Up early with the larks on this sunny summer day, bursting with energy and ready to tackle my problems one-two-three. First, I made a big decision: For now, anyway, I will stop shopping at Stuff, Etc … The experience has simply been too draining. Last time I was there I noticed that right by the entry doors they have big displays of an herbal pill made of gingko root and biloba powder and bee extract and I don’t know what-all to increase concentration and stamina, which Margaret says everybody uses just for the purpose of shopping at Stuff, Etc … That seems kind of cuckoo to me. I don’t want a store you need to take a special pill to shop in. Would you?

Instead this morning I went to U-Drug-It, the local megapharmacy, which also sells groceries and live bait and earthmoving equipment and so on. Its produce department is perfectly fine, though it adjoins the jewelry aisle. I also looked at their huge rack of magazines that had all these articles like “Budget This” and “Save Money That” and I wondered when I’ll see one about “Having Absolutely No Money at All,” because I sent off the bills this morning, and when the checks clear, assuming they do, that is approximately what we will have.

Then again, we may be due for some kind of lovely refund I know nothing about right now, so there is that to look forward to! We must keep our fingers crossed.
